VP BINAY TO MEET LOCAL LEADERS, SWEAR IN PDP LABAN RECRUITS IN WESTERN VISAYAS

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay will visit Western Visayas to hold a dialog with the local government officials of Capiz, Iloilo, Aklan and Antique, and lead the oath-taking of new PDP Laban members in the region.

United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) senatorial bets Mitos Magsaysay and Joey de Venecia, UNA spokesperson Atty. JV Bautista and former Cong. Rodolfo Plaza of the Partido ng Masang Pilipino will accompany the Vice President.

Binay’s 3-day visit in the region will start in Roxas City on June 6, a day after his arrival from the United States where he attended the 5th Global Housing Finance Forum in Washington D.C.

While in Western Visayas, Binay will lead the medical and dental missions spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President.

The missions will be held in Dao, Dumarao and Mambusao in Capiz on June 6; Nabas, Banga and Numancia in Aklan on June 7; and Valderrama, Bugasong and Hamtic in Antique on June 8.

The missions aim to serve 1,000 beneficiaries per town.

“Marami sa ating mga kababayan ang hindi kayang pumunta sa mga ospital at magpatingin sa duktor o dentista, kaya minabuti naming ihatid ang mga serbisyong ito sa kanila,” Binay said.

Binay will meet with the senior citizens and non-governmental organizations of Mambusao, Dao, Passi, Banga, New Washington, Numancia, Nabas, Valderrama and Hamtic.

He will also attend the inauguration and blessing of the senior citizens buildings in Dao and Banga, and meet with the scholars of the Vice President Grant-in-Aid Program in the University of Antique.

In 2011, Binay allocated P150 million of his Priority Development Assistance Fund for the construction and repair of 300 senior citizens centers nationwide. He also earmarked P10 million for educational assistance to 1,090 students – 10 scholars for each of the 109 state colleges and universities in the country.
