VP BINAY: PNOY’S TRUST IS REASON I AM TOP ENDORSER

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said that President Benigno Aquino III’s trust in him was the main reason he emerged as the top endorser for senatorial candidates.

“Kitang-kita kasi ‘yung tiwala ng pangulo sa akin sa trabahong ipinapatrabaho niya,” Binay said during an interview with Anthony Taberna in ABS-CBN’s morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda, Tuesday.

“Malaking trabaho po ang OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) concerns at mas malaking trabaho ang harapin ang problema na mabigyang pabahay ang ating mga kababayang Pilipino,” he added.

A recent survey conducted by Pulse Asia from February 16 to March 9, 2012 showed Binay as the top endorser for senatorial candidates.

According to the survey, 73 percent or 7 out of 10 respondents said they would vote for senatorial candidates endorsed by Binay.

The Vice President is the Presidential Adviser on OFW Concerns and Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council.

Reacting to the survey, former President Joseph Estrada said this was good news for the United Nationalist Alliance, the coalition formed by Binay’s Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban) and Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP).

“We are not wrong in aligning with the the party of the Vice President, so we can join forces and make it a reality,” Estrada said during the testimonial dinner held in his honor Monday night.

The same survey showed showed 66 percent of Filipinos would vote for candidates endorsed by President Aquino, while 51 said they will vote for candidates President Estrada endorses. Only 7 percent or less than 1 in 10 said they would vote for candidates endorsed by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Binay has consistently garnered the highest trust ratings in all surveys conducted by Pulse Asia and the Social Weather Station (SWS) since he assumed his post as Vice President.
