VP BINAY LEADS MEDICAL, DENTAL MISSIONS IN AKLAN

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay Thursday led the simultaneous medical and dental missions of his office in Banga, Numancia and Nabas, Aklan.

The Office of the Vice President also conducted missions in Dao, Dumarao and Mambusao in Capiz on June 6, and will proceed to Valderrama, Bugasong and Hamtic in Antique on June 8.

Binay allotted P12 million of the first tranche of his 2012 Priority Development Assistance Fund for health services, which include the provision of medical equipment for, and holding of medical and dental missions in select towns.

While in Banga, Binay met with the local government officials, non-governmental organizations and senior citizens of the municipality.

“Napansin kong hindi pa tapos ang inyong gym dito. Hayaan nyo at tutulong ang aming opisina para matapos na ang konstruksyon nito,” the Vice President said.

Binay also urged local officials to help in the government’s efforts to fight illegal recruitment and human trafficking.

“Mas kilala ninyo ang inyong mga nasasakupan at mas madali ninyong makikita ang mga pangyayari sa inyong bayan,” he told the local officials, adding that they are the first to know if there are cases of illegal recruitment and human trafficking in their area.

“Kaya naman hinihingi ko ang inyong tulong para mapuksa natin ang mga salot na ito. Mahalaga ang ambag ninyo upang masiguro natin ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan, lalo na ‘yong mga naghihirap, mula sa mga gustong manlamang sa kanila,” Binay added.

Binay is the chairman emeritus of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking and chairman of the Presidential Task Force Against Illegal Recruitment.

During his stay in Aklan, the Vice President also visited New Washington where he awarded a Special Allotment Release Order for the repair of the town’s senior citizens building. He also went to Nabas to meet the residents of the municipality.
