“I welcome President Aquino’s announcement ordering the DOJ to withdraw the criminal charges filed against the Morong 43. It’s a fitting gesture from an enlightened administration, today being International Human Rights Day. The task at hand now is for the DOJ prosecutors handling the case to expedite the filing of a motion for withdrawal to enable the court to decide on it. I have always maintained the position that the Morong 43 health workers are victims of a defective warrant. They have already suffered for 10 months in jail, and every minute they remain incarcerated only furthers the violation committed against their basic rights.” #
