More OFWs avail of one-stop service centers in Ilocos Region

Experiencing the benefits of one-stop service centers, OFWs and local workers in the Region I praised the government’s efforts to ensure efficient provision of employment services.

DOLE-RO I Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra bared that clients served through one-stop service centers have reached about 30,000 since these have been established.

Region I has two one-stop service centers, cutting down the costs and time by significant amount for clients to transact with government agencies for their employment needs.

He said the center at the City Hall in Candon City, Ilocos Sur serves an average of 750 clients per month through the DOLE, TESDA, SSS, Philhealth, Pag-IBIG, OWWA and POEA every Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The PRC is also at the center every second Thursday of the month.

Considered a breakthrough along the city’s PESO services, the one-stop service center was put up in September 2013 through the initiative and strong support of second district Representative Eric D. Singson and Candon City Mayor Ericson G. Singson, M.D.

Agustin Alibuyog, Jr., a resident of Batac, Ilocos Norte is now deployed in Kuwait as family driver after paying his OWWA membership contribution and availing of B.M. online assistance at the center.

Nenita Alibuyog, Agustin’s wife, expressed gratitude for the very efficient service as her husband no longer needed to go to the regional office of the OWWA in La Union.

Honeylyn Pacquing of the North Luzon Philippines State College in Candon City praised the accommodating staff after renewing her teaching and guidance counselor licenses.

Another service center which was launched at the Manna Mall, City of San Fernando, La Union has already served 2,248 clients since its launching in December 2016. It is composed of the DOLE, POEA, OWWA, PITO-La Union, DFA, TESDA, PRC, PHilHealth, MARINA, SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, PSA, NBI, BI, CHED and PVAO. It operates from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Director Lacambra said the establishment of one-stop service centers is aligned with the present administration’s thrust to make it easier for Filipinos who are currently working or planning to work overseas to avail of the frontline services of the government.
