Labor Day nationwide job, business fairs

MANILA, April 22 — To celebrate the first Labor Day under the administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is bringing job and business fairs in various areas in the 17 regions throughout the country.

“We are having more than 50 job and business fairs as among the highlights of the Labor Day celebration,” said Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III.

In the National Capital Region alone, 10 job and business fairs are set to be mounted, he added.

The Labor Day job and business fairs replicate the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) initiative of the DOLE and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), which aims to bring employment opportunities and entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.

The 115th year commemoration of Labor Day is observed with the theme ‘Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago.’

For those seeking employment, Bello reminded them to be armed and ready with the following application requirements: resume or curriculum vitae (bring extra copies for multiple job applications); 2 x 2 ID pictures; certificate of employment for those formerly employed; diploma and/or transcript of records; and authenticated birth certificate.

The job and business fairs to be conducted on May 1 are as follows:

National Capital Region (NCR)–Quezon City Hall and Fisher Mall in Quezon City; Ayala Mall in Muntinlupa City; basketball court behind Parañaque City Hall in Parañaque City; Vista Mall in Taguig City; Robinsons Mall in Las Piñas City; Valenzuela Astrodome in Valenzuela City; Bonifacio Monument in the City of Manila; Malabon City Hall in Malabon City; and Pasay City Hall in Pasay City;
Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)–Baguio Convention Center;
Ilocos Region (Region 1)–Robinsons, Ilocos Norte and Lingayen, Pangasinan;
Cagayan Valley Region (Region 2)–Ilagan, Isabela; and Mall of the Valley, Tuguegarao;

Another job and business fair is scheduled on May 5 in Vista Mall, Balanga City, Bataan.

Bello said that aside from the conduct of simultaneous TNK job and business fairs, the DOLE has prepared other Labor Day activities for the public. (DOLE)
