K+12 PROGRAM TO PROMOTE EMPLOYMENT – VP BINAY

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said the K+12 program of the Department of Education will help provide opportunities for gainful employment after graduation.

According to him, students who complete the K+12 program will be recognized with certificates equivalent to a two-year college degree.

He also said the new curriculum will enable students to better cope with their lessons and also provide schools with flexibility to allow students choose electives or specializations that suit their interest.

“The system is still in its initial stages and I am sure the Department of Education will monitor its implementation and come up with further improvements in the program,” he added.

According to the Department of Education, the additional two years of education will help decongest and enhance the current basic education curriculum and provide better quality education for all.

“The Philippines is the only remaining country in Asia with a 10-year basic education program and it is high time that our education program be on par with that of other countries,” Binay added.

Binay also lauded the Department of Education for their efforts in addressing the shortage of textbooks and classroom seats.
