Mayor Agustin not bothered on Marcos town as election hot spot

Marcos town Mayor Arsenio Agustin said that he doesn’t see any wrong on the decision of the COMELEC to include his town as one of the watchlist areas in the coming May 2016 election.

He believed that the authorities had sufficient basis in order to include his town in the list due to the election-related shooting incidents in 2013.

One shooting incident involved former Mayor Salvador Pillos, who survived an assassination try. It was followed by the killing of mayoralty candidate Alfredo Arce in February.

Agustin said he would favor if more policemen will be assigned in his town to maintain peace and order especially during the campaign period.

Sr/Insp. Arnel Tabaog, chief of PNP Marcos, said that there is already a move to intensify campaign against criminality by conducting random checkpoints in strategic areas.

Mayor Agustin will be facing his rival incumbent Vice Mayor James Felipe.
Vice mayoralty bets are ABC President Jessie Ermitanio and ex-mayor Salvador Pillos.

Meanwhile, Solsona Mayor Jonathan De Lara, has disagreed with the inclusion of Solsona town in the election watchlist.

He said that he couldn’t think of any possible reason why Solsona is included.
Councilor and vice mayoralty candidate Jose Martin, said it showed that their town is under intense politics. (tsg)
