CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte (Oct. 25) – A lady municipal councilor of this town was brutally killed by still unidentified assailants inside her mini-grocery store at poblacion here.
Police said sangguniang bayan member Estela Vidad was sitted inside the house which serves also as grocery store when a lone gunman posing as customer approached her and shot her at close range.
Police said that the victim sustained two gunshot wounds in the chest. SoCo team recovered two empty shells of .9mm pistol bullets at the crime scene.
The suspects and his cohort fled using a black motorcycle as getaway vehicle, witnesses said.
Police probers were initially looking into politics angle as the possible motive of the murder.
The victim was allegedly giving financial support to some candidates for the barangay election, probers said.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Rosario Go condenmed the brutal killing of her colleague in the municipal council.
She asked the police to solve the Vidad slay case with dispatch saying the perpetrators and the mastermind should be punished.
