A ‘Prodigal son’ is welcomed back in Paoay Sanggunian

PAOAY, Ilocos Norte, (Nov. 7)– Controversial councilor Dante Langaman was likened to a returning home “prodigal son” when he finally re-appeared and attended the regular session of the Sanggunian Bayan (municipal council) of this town after he was declared long absent from the body.

Vice Mayor Aileen Llaguno Guerrero, SB presiding officer, said fellow councilors warmly welcomed Langaman when he re-appeared and attended the session where he delivered a privilege speech. Every SB member spoke and nodded for the return of Langaman, who gave “personal problem” as reason of his successive absences.

Record showed that the municipal council had suspended him for six months when he failed to attend for many long weeks the SB sessions.

However, the Sangguniang Panglalawigan  stopped the suspension saying that the erring councilor should have been  charged with administrative case before the body could act on it.(jrg)
