Condemned YMCA Building in Laoag City

Located in the heart of the city, this two-storey dilapidated wooden structure of YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) has been condemned by Laoag engineer’s office, hence, it’s no longer safe for human occupancy. The question is — which entity would do the demolition job on this vintage building. As demolition is uncertain, this edifice made of light materials poses as fire hazard endangering the residential houses nearby.

Tourism advocates also dubbed it as public eyesore. Unknown to many ‘bagets’, this YMCA building was the popular nerve center of many significant local youth sports events and conferences in the 1960s till 1990s in Ilocos Norte.

Let us make YMCA live again and restore its value by soliciting the DILG, benevolent donors and generous individuals. We can make that happen. When i was young, this place is the melting pot of all sports and talents. How I wish this can be restored.

Let us restore YMCA, Laoag City. This place is very much potential in molding the youth through sports and talent showcase. I can put my Gymnastics training there to start the process. We can encourage also other sports events to utilize the place. Let us set aside profiteering, let us first restore the old history of this condemned place. Contact me if you agree and let us make the first step. 09997110894
