FORMER FIRST LADY and now Congresswoman Imelda R. Marcos remains supportive to local loyalists of KBL, a powerful political party founded by her husband, the late President Ferdinand Marcos. As proof, when KBL vice mayoral candidate Waldo Carpio of Paoay, Ilocos Norte sought her blessings, Madam Imelda readily gave her full support for him, according to DZEA ace reporter Rod Sadian in his radio broadcast. Meaning to say, when the midyear election’s campaign period starts next year, Madam Imelda will endorse Councilor Waldo Carpio for vice mayor of Paoay. The former First Lady maintains her beauty and charisma which captivate the voters’ senses. Hence, when she endorses a political candidate, her sweet words send shivers to the political foe’s spine. Senior councilor Carpio is a cousin of last-term Mayor Bobby Clemente, whose wife Dolly is running for mayor……………Same scenario happened in Pinili, Ilocos Norte wherein KBL mayoral candidate Carol Rubio will be supported by Madam Imelda instead of incumbent re-electionist Mayor Samuel Pagdilao Sr., Radyo Toto-o commentator Rod Sadian further reported. Will Gov. Imee Marcos support NP partymates, who are rivals of her mother’s bets? Let a fair fight among the candidates rule. “Kung sino ang iboboto ng mga tao, di siya a panalo”…………It’s worth interesting to watch the political scenario in Laoag City. Why? Because, Carlos Farinas, son of Congressman Rudy C. Farinas may not be the running mate of city mayoral candidate Chevylle Farinas, wife of Mayor Michael Farinas, according to spokesman city councilor Dax Dacuycuy as per Nov. 30 TV Patrol broadcast report. He said the Mayor MVF camp had already chosen Atty. Marlon Manuel, city legal officer, as running mate of Madam Chevylle. Earlier, on Nov. 29, Rep. RCF told reporters that his son Carlos will be the running mate of Chevylle as a “compromised candidate” in order to iron out the kinks in one side of their family because his brother former city mayor Roger Farinas is also firm in his bid for city mayor of Laoag. Be that as it may, I think the young Carlos is unstoppable and definitely running for vice mayor of Laoag. As the Tagalog clique goes, “Abangan ang susunod na kabanata”. (JUN R. GUIANG)
