Schoolgirl dies from tricycle fall

SANTIAGO, Ilocos Sur, Oct. 19–Angelica Ruado, 17, senior high student, accidentally fell from a tricycle she was riding in and later died in the hospital, a police report said.

Investigators said the victim allegedly sat at the back of the tricycle driver, her uncle.

While the tricycle was negotiating a sharp curve in Brgy. Ambucao, the girl apparently lost hold from her seat and fell with her head hitting the paved road.

Witnesses rescued her and took her to Candon hospital. Relatives opted to transfer her but on the way to another hospital in San Fernando City, La Union, the ambulance carrying her collided with a kurong-kurong (an improvised tricycle) in Balaoan town.

However, she reached the La Union hospital still breathing but she later expired while being treated by doctors, police said.(tri-media report)
