Hiker falls into cliff, thanks to a chopper

SOLSONA, Ilocos Norte, Feb. 18–ABS-CBN network employee Jay Espinas of Metro Manila survived an accidental fall into a 100-meter deep ravine while hiking home-bound with fellow mountain climbers on Saturday in the Solsona-Apayao road in this upland town, police said.

Due to the steep ravine at the accident-prone spot in Brgy. Manalpac, a private chopper from Manila was used to rescue him aided by police and other local authorities.

The victim sustained injuries in the body caused by the impact as he rolled down the ravine.

Attending doctors said his medical condition was stable at press time. (tri-media report)
