13 year-old boy drowns

LAOAG CITY – A Search and Rescue Team failed to save the life of a 13-year-old boy who allegedly drowned while swimming at the shore of Bgy. 33-A La Paz, this city.

Witnesses said that rescuers employed first aid including a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) but the boy was no longer responding.

Dr. Melvin Manuel, head of the Search and Rescue Team of the city government, identified the victim as Daniel Martin, aged 13, and a resident of Bgy. 33-B La Paz, this city.

Manuel said that on Thursday (Oct. 5), the victim, together with his friends, went swimming when their classes were cancelled due to TEacher’s Day event.

He added that after a hour of search operation, they found the body of the boy floating about 100 meters way from the shore.
