LAOAG CITY, March 20– District Engineer Ma. Venus Torio disclosed that at least 200 job order and contractual employees of DPWH first engineering district here were terminated of their services effective end of February.
Torio said the mass layoff took place due to lack of funds for the workers’ salaries since the non-approval of the national government budget for 2019.
She noted that other DPWH engineering districts had already a mass layoff of their temporary workers earlier in January owing to the same problem of non-availability of funds for salaries.
Our central office, however, vowed to share a budget for the DPWH first district’s operational funds, Torio said. (tri-media report)
