Simultaneous checkpoint operations in Region 1 impound 863 motor vehicles

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO, San Fernando, La Union – Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula, Regional Director announced that the PRO1’s (Police Regional Office 1) continuing campaign against criminality particularly on the implementation of police checkpoints yielded significant results with 863 vehicles impounded in two weeks of operation regionwide.

Based on records, 341 motorcycles and 522 motor vehicles were caught for various violations during the checkpoint. A total of 3,713 traffic citation tickets (TCT) were also issued to the violators.

PCSupt. Sapitula ordered the simultaneous implementation of checkpoint down to the police stations as part of the intensified police operations and an intervention program on the prevention of vehicular traffic incidents.

He stressed that the simultaneous checkpoints will continue to include the strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations in the region.
