DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte (July 29) — Members of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas-Ilocos Norte Chapter together with the Pinakbet Group, an active non-government organization here and the representatives from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources conducted a tree planting activity in Brgy. Bacsil, Dingras town on Saturday.
Despite of bad weather, the participants braved the rainfall and planted some 500 saplings of narra and mahogany trees.
Cely Calonge-Paz, president of KBP-Ilocos Norte chapter, said the program is now on its 7th year.
“It has become an annual event for KBP members in support to the national greening program of the national government,” she said.
The barangay officials of said place were tasked to regularly monitor the growth of the planted saplings, it was learned. (tri-media)
