LAOAG CITY — On July 23, 2018, after the regular flag-raising ceremony, Laoag City Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas and Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Kap. Mikee Fariñas, led the distribution of the first batch of Day Care Kits to all the Day Care pupils of the urban barangays (Brgys. 1 – 29) of the City.

Assisted by the City Department Heads, Assistant Department Heads and Division Chiefs, the Mother of the City and the ABC President distributed bags, raincoats, umbrellas, school supplies, and books to the pupils of the different Day Care Centers.

According to City Social Welfare and Development Officer Mrs. Aurora Corpuz, there are 2,500 children in all the barangays in the City who will be given Day Care Kits.

This program is made possible by the City Government headed by the Mother of the City, Mayor Chevylle V. Fariñas, in cooperation with the City Social Welfare Development Office.

The distribution of Day Care Kits is a continuing endeavor until all children- recipients are given, because the Mother of the City believes that all the kids need a little help, a little hope, and somebody who believes in them.

The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn, she said. (Romar Piscante/PIOstaff)
