Dengue cases in I.N.: 5 dead, 437 afflicted

LAOAG CITY, August 4–The provincial health office has confirmed that at least five persons died and 437 others afflicted in Ilocos Norte due to dengue virus caused by mosquito bite during the past seven months.

Ruedas had a record of two death cases of Dengue in Dingras town and one each in the towns of Solsona, Badoc, and Laoag City.

The recorded dengue cases covered the period from January to July this year, the PHO said.

Most of the victims were confined at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac City where there is a special treatment place for dengue patients.

Owing to this health menace, Gov. Imee Marcos had directed the PHO to quickly set safety measures to protect the public from the dengue virus. (tri-media report)
