421 HOTS at Kalayaan job fairs

Some 421 applicants were hired on the spot in the three simultaneous job fairs led by the DOLE-Ilocos Region on Kalayaan Day.

DOLE-RO I Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said that reported HOTS per job fair venue are as follows: Candon Civic Center – 295; Pacoy Ortega Gymnasium – 80 and Nepo Mall – 46.

Of the figure, 357 landed on local jobs such as customer service representatives, sales associates/assistants, property consultants, service crews, account officers, clerks, processing crew, office staff, quality control technicians, data researchers and housekeeping staff.

On the other hand, 64 were placed in overseas employment as receptionists, waitresses, facility workers, teachers, sales associates, electricians, service crew, office staff, marketing officer and front desk clerk.

“The HOTS represents 22.84 percent of the 1,843 total registrants,” Director Lacambra said, adding:
“I thank all our partners for helping us deliver our employment facilitation program on this memorable occasion. Together, we were able to free jobseekers from joblessness.”

He said the event also featured business counselling services where 137 persons were referred to the DTI for entrepreneurial opportunities.

One-stop-shop services were featured in all the job fair venues to facilitate the employment needs of both jobseekers and workers.

A total of 16,239 vacancies were offered by 9,225 local and 7,014 overseas employers, indicating that job opportunities are substantially greater than those looking for jobs, he told.

The celebration was anchored on the theme, “Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.” (DOLE Region 1)
