Two farmers’ row ends in violence

PASUQUIN, Ilocos Norte, Jan. 1 — Simplicio Eda Jr. allegedly hacked and injured fellow farmer Kennedy Corpuz during a quarrel over “Patanum” (water system) in their farms at Brgy. Sta. Catalina, this town, police said.

Investigators said that while Corpuz, the victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, his two sons apparently thought revenge for him.

The two brothers later allegedly shot and wounded a certain Edwin Eda, brother of the suspect Simplicio.

Edwin claimed he tried to pacify but instead he was shot.

He sustained a superficial gunshot wound in the buttock, investigators said.

A caliber .9mm pistol was believed used in the shooting.

At press time, the two brothers remained at large while the police took custody of the elder Eda. (tr-media report)
