Two cockpit-goers nabbed for slaying

BANNA, Ilocos Norte, Sept. 17–Two motorcycle-riders, who claimed they were going to a cockfight derby in Batac City, were arrested for being tagged as suspects in the ambush-slaying of Washington “King” Felipe, 28, of Brgy. Fortuna, Marcos, Ilocos Norte last Friday night, police reported.

The suspects from Dingras town were intercepted in a police checkpoint in Batac City, a few hours after the killing incident, the report said.
The victim, together with his wife and two kids, aged 5 and 2, was driving his motorcycle at about 8:00 pm along Brgy. Caribquib, this town to buy “empanada” snack when the suspects riding in tandem staged the ambush.

One of the gunmen shot the victim at point blank on the head and side body.

The wife and kids were spared by the assailants. The three sustained scratches when their ride fell on the road pavement after the shooting.

Investigators said the wife tagged the duo as the alleged assailants claiming that a passing van lighted their faces and their getaway motorcycle.

The suspects, however, strongly denied the charges saying they have no knowledge about the killing when reporters interviewed them at their detention cell. (Tri-media report)
