NUEVA ERA, Ilocos Norte, Dec. 24– Armalite-wielding gunmen sprayed with bullets the Toyota Altis car of Kagawad Norwel Balagso during an ambush here but luckily he emerged unscathed, lawmen reported.
Senior Inspector Gerardo Mabini, town police chief, said the victim, 30, married, of barangay Caray, was on his way home after attending a Christmas party when the suspects attacked him near a bridge.
Investigators said they found at the crime scene five empty shells of bullets for M-16 Armalite rifle.
They were checking allegation that the suspects merely scared him and did not mean to kill him considering the volley of gunfire that hit his car. (tri-media report)
